Prayer Request

That God would press it upon the hearts of the congregation to step out in their gifting.

A gentleman in the church is in great need of prayer as he is having problems with his heart. And satan is trying to attack other members of the family.

I will be staying in Norway for Christmas so could you be praying for me as I will be away from all my family this year.

Norwegian Christmas

The joy of Christmas (Jesus birthday) is here in Norway.
The air is crisp (when it’s not raining) the town is covered in twinkling lights and everything is centered around a magnificent christmas tree. Walking down main street you could see many window displays, my personal favorite is the manger scene, along with store clerks selling fresh waffles out front (this is a very hot item). With all the lights and shopping this is not the main focus of christmas. In Norway Advent (the coming of Jesus) is the big celebration. Advent is the 4 weeks before Christmas. The four sundays of Advent are celebrated with four candles one being lit every sunday. Another thing would be opening a gift every day until Advent day (Dec. 24) this is what we are doing here at the base, I’m really liking this tradition. Instead of gifts some families will have the Advent calendar so they open a little box every day in side could be candy, a note, or a small gift. The Christmas story is also played out in many ways through out Advent. Kristiansand also takes part in this as you would find the Christmas story showing at the local theater and cinema.

First week in Norway

It’s been just over a week since I arrived in Norway and it’s amazing how much I feel at home in such a short time everyone is just so welcoming. This last week has been spent building relationships with others and getting to know the staff I will be working with.
My job here will be what I had expected (maintenance) and more☺. I don’t know for sure what the more will be but I’m excited for it.
I’m excited to see what God has in store for this church and Norway.

Serving Him,

Eating in Norway

If you love bread and cheese, come to Norway they have the best.

Breakfast and lunch are small meals so I will have bread w/cheese maybe some jam on it, and the same for lunch. The toppings can be different (I just love the brown goat cheese). Dinner is always a hot meal of some kind like homemade pizza or Germen pancakes with sugar and jam, they are kind of like crapes. Now if you ever come to Norway you have to try kompa it’s basically a hot ball of dense potatoes with some kind of meat in the center and even though it’s the size of one potato it takes about 3 to make it.

About Norway

Norway is a beautiful country of lush mountains and rivers. With most of the country being rough mountain terrain the majority of the population lives on the outer most skirts of the country. Kristiansand is at the most southern tip over looking the bay so the weather there will be very cool, wet, and cloudy, most of the time, so I will feel right at home.
